Select Demo was contracted by Suffolk Construction to perform the interior, selective demolition, and asbestos abatement in this occupied 6-story, 56,000 SF commercial building located in the Seaport's Fort Point neighborhood to allow for the conversion into lab/research floorspace. The demolition scope consisted of removal and disposal of all architectural finishes throughout all six floors, including structural slab removal around the wooden, support columns, two decommissioned elevator shafts, penthouses on the roof and the removal of an 80 ft, chimney coated with hot ash. Select’s abatement scope consisted of the removal of asbestos chimney ash and the removal of lead paint surrounding the window frames. Select performed the sandblasting of all structural wood columns and wood decking for aesthetics.
