Select Demo was contracted by SKANSKA USA Building Inc. to perform the asbestos abatement, selective demolition, building separation and structural demolition at the existing Belmont High School to make way for the new high school and middle school. Select Demo’s scope also included protecting the pool and demolishing the structure surrounding it. Phase 2 consisted of the demolition and abatement of the former 190,000 SF, 2-story high school. Demolition scope included the complete demolition of a majority of existing high school, including foundations and footings; complex building separation from section to remain; selective, interior demolition of existing portion of school that remains; complete demolition of 7,000 SF field house. Abatement scope included the removal of VAT/mastic, pipe insulation, roofing, joint compound, plaster, duct insulation, transite panels, windows, doors, fireproofing, ceilings/walls to access asbestos.
