Newport Naval Station Bulk Head Repairs Project, Newport, RI

Select Demo was contracted by Excell Construction, an 8(a) Certified Small Business, to perform the transportation and disposal of 1,628 tons of alternate cover (non-hazardous processed contaminated excess soil as alternate cover); 1,013 tons of solid waste (non-hazardous processed contaminated excess soil); and 252 tons of asbestos containing dredge sediment. Alternate cover and solid waste were transported to Rhode Island Resource Recovery Corporation (RIRRC) and the asbestos dredge sediment was transported to Waste Management High Acres Landfill New York. Select’s abatement crews loaded all trucks and properly lined, sealed-up and cordoned off areas of excavation following all federal, state and local regulations. This work was performed as part of a larger bulk head repairs project located at the Newport Naval Station in Newport, RI.
