Select Demo was contracted by a construction management/general contracting firm to the perform the complete demolition and abatement of this 20,000 SF brick and concrete building located on an active college campus. Select’s scope included a complete building takedown; removal of asbestos façade; asbestos abatement of VAT/mastic, duct vibration cloth, pipe insulation, window and door caulking, window glazing and roofing materials; cuts, caps and make safe of utilities; demolition of the Cyclotron "Atom Smasher"; and the salvage of a time capsule for MIT. During the project, underground asbestos transite piping was discovered, which was removed and properly disposed of.
