Select Demo was contracted by Aetna Bridge to perform the emergency demolition of an existing bridge superstructure comprised of steel beams with composite cast-in-place concrete roadway deck, bituminous concrete deck, cast-in-place sidewalk, protective screens, electrification barriers, a pedestrian rail and utilities supported by the bridge. This bridge had been deemed structurally unsound by the Rhode Island Department of Transportation. Select performed a two-span pic of 80 ton, 100 foot long double concrete encased beams with no incidents or injuries working multiple day and night shifts with the assistance of a 500 ton Liebherr LR 1500 crane.
