Select Demo was contracted by Consigli Construction Co. to perform the selective, interior demolition and asbestos abatement of this 178,000 SF, 6-floor unoccupied dormitory on MIT’s Campus. All joint compound throughout building was asbestos containing material. A major portion of scope included the abatement
and removal of 1000+ windows with asbestos caulking. Removal of windows was in tandem with the installers to
maintain weather protection. Sheet rock demolition was selective as a cost savings to the client; therefore, all other trades received asbestos awareness training, and completed their scope under containment with SDS assistance. SDS provided abatement management for these subcontractors, supplying all necessary PPE and overall management of asbestos paperwork to ensure compliance.
