Project Value Range: $600,000 - $700,000
Select Demo was contracted directly by OMYA, a leading global producer of industrial minerals, to perform the demolition and abatement of two (2) 72 ft. stave block silos sandwiched between two buildings. The scope included manually dismantling the silos while knocking them into themselves, rigging and picking of the penthouse via crane atop of the silos. Select’s scope also entailed the demolition and removal of Slurry Tank #21 as ACM bulk product waste and the dismantlement and installation of mechanical and structural equipment associated with Tank 21. Install work consisted of construction of a new concrete bin block retaining wall, a CMU wall on the basement level, the re-attachment of the roof to new CMU wall and a temporary barricade at existing retaining wall. Select infilled first floor door with CMU, cleared and grubbed trees around tank, excavated existing soils near retaining wall, backfilled with structural gravel, seeded disturbed areas; and protected of adjacent structures.

It’s impressive to see how a site like Omya in Florence balances large-scale industrial operations with a focus on local sustainability. That kind of integration between production and responsibility is something I pay close attention to in my own work. When dealing with process flow, choosing the right equipment can make a real difference. That’s why I rely on solutions like the watson marlow pump—it offers precision, efficiency, and hygiene, especially in environments that demand strict standards. AMED-US features a great range of these pumps, and they’re ideal for operations looking to maintain performance without compromising on safety or control.
