Select Demo was contracted by ET&L Corp. to perform the demolition of the Thorndike Street Bridge that runs over the Pawtucket River in Lowell, MA. Select’s scope also included the complete demolition of two bridges - Middlesex & Appleton/Chelmsford, which run over Thorndike Street in Lowell. Select performed the removal and disposal of entire superstructure, including bituminous wearing surfaces, concrete bridge decks, structural steel, bearings, railings and required bridge utilities. Also included in the required demolition (to 3' below finish grade) of the substructure included the approach slabs, backwalls, abutments, wingwalls and retaining walls between the bridges. Select performed reinforced concrete excavation and the removal of steel rail removal.
